Who processes your data
Adamant Technologies Private Limited (“we”) is the Data Fiduciary for personal data processed through Juris9. You are the Data Principal. Contact us at support@juris9.com.
What we collect
- Account data — name, email address, phone number if you add one, and, for organisation accounts, the organisation details you enter. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the account identifier that service gives us. If you set a password, we store only a one-way hash of it, never the password itself.
- Content you provide — your questions and the answers Juris9 gives, the documents and photos you upload for review (PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC or WebP), the drafts you generate, and the matters you file them under.
- Advocate listing data — for advocates, enrolment number, State Bar Council, practice details, languages, published fee band, and any portrait or cover image you add. The enrolment evidence you upload for verification is reviewed by our staff and is never shown publicly.
- Consultation requests — the requests you send to, or receive from, an advocate through Juris9.
- Reports and blocks — reports you make about an answer, an advocate listing or a consultation request, and the listings or requests you block.
- Usage data — a record of how much of the service you use, so that plan limits can be applied, and the technical logs needed to run, secure and debug the service.
- Purchase data — plans and credit packs are paid through Apple or Google. We receive the transaction and subscription status needed to give you what you bought; we never see or store your card details.
Juris9 does not currently send push notifications. If we introduce them, the app will register a device token with us for that purpose only, and we will update this notice.
Why we process it
We process your data on your consent, given by clear affirmative action when you create an account, and for the limited purposes of providing the service you asked for: answering your questions, reviewing and drafting your documents, keeping your matters together, passing a consultation request to an advocate you chose, applying usage limits, reviewing the reports you make, and billing you.
We do not sell your data. We do not use the contents of your chats, documents or matters to advertise to you, and we do not disclose them to an advocate unless you choose to share them as part of a consultation request.
We do not use your questions, documents, drafts or matters to train AI models. The model that writes Juris9’s answers runs on Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, which under Microsoft’s terms does not use them to train its models either.
Who we share it with
- Advocates you contact — only the subject, detail and, if you choose to attach it, the matter brief. Contact details are exchanged only if the advocate accepts your request: your name, email address and phone number then go to that advocate, and the advocate’s email address and phone number come to you.
- Where the law requires it — in response to a valid legal demand.
We also use the following processors, each bound to process your data only on our instructions:
- Microsoft Azure — hosting, file storage and search, in Azure’s South India region, and the AI model, through Azure AI Foundry (Azure OpenAI Service).
- Cockroach Labs (CockroachDB Cloud) — our database, hosted in India.
- Brevo — email delivery for sign-in codes and account notices.
- Google — Google Sign-In, and Google Play for purchases on Android.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and the App Store for purchases on iOS.
How answers are produced
Juris9 answers from its own library of Indian statutes and court judgments. To do that, your question — or the text of a document you ask it to review — is processed by the AI model we run on Microsoft Azure to search that library and to write the answer. It is not sent to a web search engine. Do not include unnecessary personal or confidential information in a question, and do not use the service as a substitute for an advocate.
How long we keep it
Account data for as long as your account exists. Chats, documents, drafts and matters until you delete them or close your account. When you request account deletion, we deactivate the account immediately and keep it in a 30-day recovery period in case you sign back in and cancel the request. After that period, we erase personal data and require our processors to do the same, except where retention is required by law. A small set of records survives erasure without your name, contact details or account: that an answer was given, the consents you gave and withdrew, changes to your plan, and — for an advocate — the verification decision on a listing. They are held under a one-way code derived from your account rather than the account itself, so they can answer a later challenge or audit without identifying you. Technical logs are kept for a short, fixed period for security and debugging. You can request deletion in the app, under Settings → Your data → Delete my account and data, or on the web at juris9.com/delete-account-request. See our account deletion instructions.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may exercise all of the following from Settings, without emailing anyone:
- Access — obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you, and export it.
- Correction and completion — correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure — delete your account and the data associated with it.
- Withdraw consent — as easily as you gave it.
- Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if we do not resolve it.
Security
Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is restricted and logged. No system is perfect, and we will notify you and the Board of a personal data breach as the Act requires.
Children
Juris9 is not intended for children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of a child without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian, and we do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children.
Changes
If we change this notice materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
